The route starts at the Revolgo Park in Santillana. The road climbs gently between meadows, where it usually, horses and cattle graze. At the first intersection, continue along the path that goes to your right. Later, you reach a broader way turn to the left. Keep moving in this direction until you find an information panel that will show the way back.
At this point, you may choose to continue for two miles more and reach the Altamira Museum, passing midway through the heart of San Esteban. After visiting the museum and enjoying the magnificent views and its surroundings, back to the point where you turned to begin the route back, or go down from here down the road to Santillana.
The descent passes through a eucalyptus forest, which leads to a bigger path near the San Sebastián en Herrén monastery, a place where there is a lively festival on the 20th of May. A little further ahead you can rest in the old washing area of Herrén powered by a small dam and a cute Roman bridge. The path you have left to rest in will bring you back to the starting point.
