It’s an architectural complex located in the upper area of the Plaza Mayor de Santillana, consisting of two buildings joined by a small volume of two stories, constructed between the XVI and XVII centuries, and where, as usual, the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Sport and the Government of Cantabria temporary hold exhibitions.
What is known as Casa de la Parra, takes its name from the tree that once accompanied it and whose branches surrounded its facade. The main facade has two Gothic-style doors that open to the old plaza de Mercado (market square), which lies on a screen of wood and brick that hides the original facade.
The so-called Casa del Aguila, named after the coat of arms of los Estrada or Tagle preside the facade, whose ground floor has two semicircular arches.
